This event is a free annual program that raises awareness about the range of film-related industry job pathways for students from under-resourced communities and those interested in pursuing filmmaking as a career.
This program is aimed at high school students, college students, and those interested in behind-the-camera and film-related industry careers. Each moderated panel will include live Q&As with Academy members and industry professionals.
Enjoy demonstrations, workshops, complimentary professional headshots, a photo activation, and free entry to museum galleries with a Summit ticket. American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation is available.

SATURDAY, APRIL 5, 2025
10am | Museum Doors Open
10:30–11:15am | Welcome Remarks and Keynote Speaker | Ted Mann Theater
Kick off the day with welcome remarks from the Academy Museum. This will be followed by a keynote conversation with a special guest to be announced.
11am–2pm | On Set with the Academy Museum | Tea Room (5th Floor)
Go on set with the Academy Museum and discover critical roles in filmmaking. Students will learn about set positions, experiment with equipment, and interact with a production set up.
1pm and 2pm | Exploring Sound | Shirley Temple Education Studio
From production sound to sound effects, learn about the different career paths that involve sound. Artists will share knowledge about their career paths followed by a demonstration. Space is limited. Program is first come, first served.

2:30pm | Lights, Camera, Action with Antigravity Academy | Ted Mann Theater
There is so much that goes into making a film that we don't see on screen. Join Producer and Academy Award-nominated director Carlos López Estrada (Raya and the Last Dragon, 2021; Blindspotting, 2018) of Antigravity Academy, a multi-hyphenate creative home for emerging artists across mediums, as he explores several on-set jobs with a panel of industry professionals.
4–5pm | Working Above the Line Jobs | Ted Mann Theater
Academy members and professionals will discuss their career paths, share advice, and offer students firsthand knowledge of working in the industry and identify key skills for their respective careers.
6pm | Museum Closes

10am | Museum Doors Open
1–3pm | Animation & Me: Drop-in and Draw
Join celebrated writer and director Pete Docter for a Drop-in and Draw session.
5pm | Animating a Career with Pete Docter | Ted Mann Theater
Writer and director Pete Docter (Toy Story,1995; Inside Out, 2015; Monsters Inc., 2001) returns for a conversation with the Academy Museum’s Teen Council. Docter will share his animation career journey.
6pm | Museum Closes
PLEASE NOTE: All Summit participants, and their guardians if participants are under the age of 18, understand that the Academy Museum has the right to photograph and film any participation in the Summit. All photography and videography will be wide-angle in nature and used solely in connection with highlighting the Summit on the Academy Museum website, YouTube, and social media channels.
Summit tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and do not guarantee seating in the Ted Mann Theater or access to the Shirley Temple Education Studio sessions.
