FAQs
How do I join SMC Film Club?
You can join SMC Film Club by filling out the membership form on our membership page.
By filling out the membership form, will add you to our club roster and add your email to our club newsletter.
What do you guys do?
The Film Club at Santa Monica educates students interested in filmmaking and the entertainment industry as well as build valuable skills and professional networks through a shared love of Film & TV. We do this through a variety of activities and events such as guest speaker events, meeting games, film challenges, and volunteer projects.
Can you help me with my short film?
While we do serve as a resource for student filmmakers and creators to find crews, casts, templates, and other necessary resources, we cannot dedicate the club to only ONE student’s short film.
If members or student leaders decide on their own time to work on each other's projects, that is their business and is between them.
We will do our best to host a variety of networking events and present project opportunities; however, this is all voluntary.
You can submit your project into our club database or find other projects there as well. We will do our best to provide club projects and opportunities in the future.

Can I join a meeting before I decide to join as a member?
Yes. You are more than welcome to join a meeting before you decide to take the leap and join officially.
You can find upcoming meeting dates on our events page.
*Please note you will need to register to join the Zoom meetings.
Can I join even if I’m not an SMC student?
Unfortunately, we can only add current SMC Students to our club roster. We can however add you to our general roster of members (for SMC Alumni Only).
For new incoming freshmen or first-years, we recommend waiting until you are officially registered at SMC and receive your SMC Email.
Is there a membership fee to join SMC Film Club?
Nope. Not at this time.
I have an internship/job opportunity that would be perfect for SMC Film Club members.
Sweet! Please send us an email here: Contact SMC Film Club and let us know more about what you’re looking for. Please note that unpaid internships must follow California State and Santa Monica College guidelines to be permitted for academic credit.
