Since time immemorial, Hollywood has hired writers from other disciplines–novelists, journalists, graphic novelists–to write scripts. A legion of doctors, lawyers, and other professionals have put down their degrees and stethoscopes and picked up a pen to work in writers’ rooms all over town.
