Set in the 16th century, Jodhaa Akbar is an epic historical drama that is a fictional depiction of the marriage of the Muslim Mughal Emperor Akbar (Hrithik Roshan) to the Hindu princess Jodhaa (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan). Set amid the pomp and pageantry of the Mughal Empire, what begins as a strategic political alliance blossoms into a love story full of palace intrigue, political machinations, and religious barriers, culminating in a message of religious tolerance. The chemistry between the two gorgeous screen idols, plus the soulful music, lavish sets, and costumes makes for a visual feast.
A costume worn by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Jodhaa Akbar is on display in the museum’s exhibition Color in Motion: Chromatic Explorations of Cinema,... on view through July 13, 2025.
